If you are thinking about learning to fly just remember, you will be joining a very elite group of individuals. Less than %1 of the population knows how to fly. To start this wonderful adventure, it is recommended that you first obtain a student pilot medical certificate. This can be accomplished by taking a physical exam from special FAA certified doctors. Once the medical is in hand, you can begin your flight and ground training.
Flight Time Requirements
40 hours of flight time including
-at least 20 hours with a flight instructor
-at least 10 hours solo
-3 hours of which include instrument flying
-3 hours of which include night flying
-3 hours of which include cross country flying
-3 hours of which include checkride preparation
Ground School Requirements
Include passing a FAA written test, covering various flying topics. We sell study books that help prepare you for taking this written test.
Although attending ground school is not a requirement, it is definitely recommended. West Metro Aviation offers ground school throughout the year. By attending you will receive a more rounded flying education. You will not only be “book smart” but, “street smart” as well.
After you have completed all the requirements, you will take a flight checkride and an oral examination with a FAA certified examiner. Then you will be able to fly all around the county with passengers.

Although attending is not a requirement, we recommend it. Studies show students learn more in a “hands on” classroom setting, that by simply reading a book.
The cost is $249
The ground school is held one night a week for 10 weeks. The Schedule is arranged around prospective student needs. If you are interested in attending a class, please contact us. We begin a new session whenever the attendance reaches 10 students.
